RV Bike Racks
Do you have an RV or at least take RV holidays? Are you also a cycling enthusiast? The following article discusses how you can merge these two passions together via RV bike racks.
Bikes are a great means to get around and discover different places once you have reached your destination with your trailer. But most of the common problems are the limited space of the trailer so you can not find to store your bike. With this regard, how will you be able to transport your bike safely without damaging them and your trailer as well? It's simple... mounting RV bike racks on your trailer is the solution.
Now, once you have decided that to mount a bicycle rack on your RV is a nice idea, we have to make a decision where to place those RV bike racks. The two best places of the trailer where you can mount the RV bike racks are the front of the trailer (also known as the tongue) and the rear of the trailer (on the frame). You might probably ask, why don't we just mount the RV bike racks on the bumper of the trailer or ladder? The answer is simple: most travel trailers are not designed to bear additional weights like bicycle racks and bikes. The constant bumping jostling and bouncing around during a travel will weaken the welds causing them to be pulled apart. Moreover, the bicycle's close proximity to the main wall of the trailer will definitely damage then travel trailer and the bicycle themselves.

Here are important ways on mounting RV bike racks on your travel trailer no matter which part you choose.
Frame-mount & Bolt-on Receiver For RVs
This is an adjustable receiver that can be bolted onto the RV's frame. They are safer than the ones that are mounted on the bumper. The most common is the under the bumper mount but before you do this, you have to make sure that there is enough ground clearance. Although most hitch manufacturers frame-mounted receivers should be okay, you should always be sure before you buy.
Semi-Custom Welded Receiver RV Bike Racks
This is considered as the strongest among the weld-on receiver options by a long shot. Semi-custom welded receiver RV bike racks are permanent so you have the option to carry at least two bikes. But first, you have to determine how much you will carry before installing your hitch set up. Doing this procedure will probably cause you to beef up the frame area particularly the attachment points. It is also possible to completely replace the trailer's bumper. With this kind of set up, you will have a stronger receiver wherein you can mount your RV bike racks.
Tongue-Mount RV Bike Racks
This is a bike rack that can either be bolted or welded on the frame area (at the tongue) of your travel trailer. With this kind of set up, two bicycles can be carried safely at the top of the propane tanks. But this can be a bit tedious because you need to lift the bikes up there. This set up can give you the option to keep an eye on your cycles through the vehicle's rear window by giving you a clear view of the RV bike racks.
